Check ICE Custody Release Records

To find someone released from ICE custody after a Pickens County detention event, follow the handoff between the county release record and the federal detainee locator. No ICE detention center was identified in Pickens County. A PCDC event tied to DHS or ICE may mark transfer into federal civil immigration custody, not a return to the community. ICE's locator can cover current detainees and some recent releases, while the county movement record can identify the receiving agency. Neither result alone resolves the full immigration case or every later custody change.

Where ICE Releases Appear

ICE's Online Detainee Locator System, or ODLS, accepts a nine-digit A-number with country of birth, or exact first and last name with country of birth and optional birth date. Names must match, including hyphens. ICE's public legal-resources material says the system includes current detainees and people released from ICE custody within the last 60 days.

A result can help locate current or recent ICE detention. A later absence may reflect the 60-day window, spelling, transfer, or release. Immigration release also does not mean that immigration court or supervision has ended. Confirm the exact status through ICE when the online result is unclear.

Confirm an ICE Release

The sheriff's PCDC information page leads to the official Zuercher portal. Unlike a current-only jail list, this portal offers Release Date, Arrest Date, name, Held For Agency, and historical In Custody On filters. Results can show a photograph, name, race, sex, arrest date, held-for agency, release date, and hold or charge text. Those facts help distinguish similar names and separate booking episodes.

  1. Check the PCDC Held For Agency and destination fields.
  2. Search ODLS by A-number and country of birth when possible.
  3. Try exact biographical search only with correct spelling.
  4. Record the status and date exactly as displayed.
  5. Call ICE's information line if the result remains unclear.
Released is not the same as transferred. A PCDC release followed by an ICE record means federal immigration custody may have begun.

The broader Pickens County released-inmate search explains how county, SCDC, court, VINE, and supervision records fit together. The portal does not publish a guaranteed refresh interval or retention term. Treat a blank result as unresolved until the spelling, date, agency, and possible transfer have been checked.

ICE Release Contact Route

For a same-day status check, ask a narrow question: whether the named person is presently held, the recorded release date and time if not, and whether the record shows release to the community or transfer to a named agency. Detailed historical questions may be routed to Records or the sheriff's FOIA process. The public research did not identify separate public records-desk hours, so no hours should be assumed.

The sheriff's FOIA request page provides its current form and fee schedule. Identify the person, known aliases, booking date, release date, held-for agency, and booking or case number when known. Ask for the booking sheet, custody movement history, release sheet, release timestamp, type or authority, destination or receiving agency, and the booking photograph tied to that event. Electronic delivery and inspection may reduce copy expense.

ICE Release Record Fields

A public portal row is useful, but it is not the full release record. Race and sex are agency fields used to distinguish identities, not conclusions about a person. A booking photograph belongs to one arrest episode and does not establish guilt. Release Date shows a custody event, while charge or hold text provides context. The public interface does not promise a separate release-reason field.

Booking episode
The arrest and admission connected to one jail stay.
Held For Agency
The office or court tied to custody, which may identify the next place to check.
Release sheet
The agency record that may carry exact time, authority, method, and destination.
Transfer
Movement to another custodian rather than a return to the community.

A court's bond order permits release once its conditions are met, but it does not prove when jail staff completed discharge. Likewise, a dismissal or sentence entry does not by itself show the door time. Compare the court order with the PCDC release transaction when precise timing matters. A released person may still have a pending court case or community supervision.

PCDC ICE Release Handoffs

PCDC's agency configuration includes DHS/ICE. That makes immigration transfer a real record possibility, although the research found no ICE detention facility in Pickens County and no verified current county 287(g) agreement. ICE describes a detainer as a request for notice and up to 48 additional hours so DHS may assume custody. It is a request, and the local release line alone does not prove that ICE completed the pickup.

If the portal links the booking to DHS or ICE, search the ICE Online Detainee Locator System and request PCDC's destination field. The locator accepts a nine-digit A-number and country of birth, or exact first and last name with country of birth and optional birth date. It excludes minors. A missing locator result can reflect spelling, timing, a later release, or the limited window for released ICE records.

Note: Ask for the named receiving agency before describing any DHS-linked PCDC event as a community release.

Pickens ICE Locator Limits

ICE's locator is not a permanent public archive. The official legal-resources page says it covers people now in ICE custody and people released from ICE custody within the prior sixty days. After that window, an old PCDC handoff may need to be traced through the county movement record, the ICE information line, and authorized case records.

ODLS excludes minors and requires exact identity inputs. Do not publish an A-number, birth details, home address, or sensitive case data. A blank result can reflect spelling, number formatting, the time limit, transfer, or privacy boundaries. It cannot be reported as proof that ICE never had custody.

Request ICE Handoff Proof

PCDC is the source for its local movement record. A focused South Carolina FOIA request should identify the booking and ask for the release timestamp, held-for agency, receiving custodian, and destination if recorded. ICE controls the later federal detention or release information. Keep the two requests separate so each office can answer for its own event.

For ICE status help, the Detention Reporting and Information Line publishes identity-verification and privacy limits. Have the correct name, country of birth, and A-number when authorized to use it. Ask for basic status or the appropriate office rather than requesting protected case facts through a public channel.

The strongest proof is a chain: PCDC release to the named federal recipient, an ICE custody result when available, and the later ICE release event. A county date alone does not establish the end of immigration custody.

Reconcile Pickens ICE Status

ICE describes a detainer as a request for release notice and continued local custody for up to 48 hours so DHS may assume custody. A detainer does not prove the pickup happened. PCDC's release sheet or movement history should identify whether ICE became the receiving custodian.

If ODLS shows a current location, follow the exact agency information displayed. If it shows a recent release, preserve the event date and remember that the public window is limited. If no match appears, check A-number formatting, country of birth, exact spelling, hyphens, and birth date before calling. Do not enter or publish a minor's information because ODLS excludes people under 18.

The Detention Reporting and Information Line can address basic case information within identity and privacy limits. Its published hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern, excluding federal holidays, and language help is available. Immigration court proceedings or reporting duties can continue after detention ends.

No official source established an ICE detention facility in Pickens County or a current Pickens County 287(g) agreement. The local relevance comes from PCDC's held-for-agency configuration. Keep the county release, federal handoff, and later ICE release as separate events so one agency's departure is not mistaken for the end of the whole custody chain.

Trace Older Pickens ICE Releases

An ICE release older than the public locator window may require a different record chain. Begin with the PCDC booking and movement history if county custody came first. Preserve the held-for agency, exact local release time, and receiving custodian. Then use the ICE information line or the authorized case contact for the later federal segment.

Immigration court activity can continue after detention ends, and a reporting duty is not the same as custody. Keep the detention event, court proceeding, and any later supervision or check-in separate. The research did not identify a Pickens County ICE detention facility, so a local address should not be invented for this page.

Privacy limits still apply. A public guide can explain the search inputs and routing process without publishing an A-number, country-of-birth combination, family address, or sensitive case detail. Record those identifiers only in the authorized request or official locator session.
